E-mail Setup

The E-mail software installed on shared computers of KIT is Thunderbird.

Thunderbird supports POP3, IMAP(IMAP4) protocols.
For network security considerations, only POPS(POP3S), IMAPS(IMAP4S) and SMTPS allow off-campus users to receive and send E-mails.

NOTE:Using KITnet(Wi-Fi & Wired Networking on campus) will be considered “off-campus network”. Recommended settings are described below.

E-mail alias

You can use your E-mail alias, which is a pointer that directs email messages to your email account. A CIS account is limited to 8 characters while the e-mail alias can have 9 to 32 characters with any combination of alphabets, numbers and “-(hyphen)”.

KIT faculty&staff members can apply. Fill out and hand in Change Notification for the Use of the Center’s Computing System(For faculty and staff who have USN and @kit.ac.jp Domain).
